Guided Tour
Harvington is not a typical historic house, it is a house of secrets with an exciting story to tell. We strongly recommend a guided tour, especially if it is your first visit. The Hall’s very nature is about secrecy and therefore you can easily miss something. Let our enthusiastic tour guides take you on a journey back to the darker side of the Elizabethan era, as you discover the Hall’s many secrets.
We have over 25 tour guides, each of them with their own unique style, meaning no visit is the same, making people want to visit again and again.
As you roam the Hall with your guide you will learn how the family lived during penal times as well as seeing our plethora of Elizabethan wall paintings and many priest hides. Learn how the house was altered and the tricks used to confuse the priest hunters.
We appreciate guided tours aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, however, the tour guarantees to bring the Hall to life and will leave you feeling enthused.
Guided tours are approximately 1hr 15mins
Morning Guided Tour start times - 10:30, 11:00, 11:30
Afternoon Guided Tour start times - 13:30, 14:00, 14:30 and 15:00 on weekends.
Please note there is no extra cost for a guided tour.
Free Flow Tour
If the guided tour is not for you, don’t worry, you can walk around the Hall at your own leisure.
During the day we have 2 free flow timeslots where you can explore the Hall at your own pace, allowing you to soak up the atmosphere and giving you time to explore.
There are room cards in every room giving a brief description of the room and its purpose, along with any other interesting points to note. Please read as much as possible so you are sure not to miss a thing, particularly the well concealed priest hides.
We regularly have stewards on hand to ask any questions if so wish.
Please allow yourself 1 hour to walk around.
